After years of travel in our work and service as deaconesses we’ve become convinced that among God’s good gifts and blessings are the many regions, countries, people groups and cultures in our world.

What joy it is to see another part of our world and meet the people who live there. There’s nothing quite like taking in the sites, sounds, smells and tastes of a place you’ve never been before!

We realized there are lots of trips and tours for Lutheran couples, led by professors and pastors and their wives, and such trips are certainly wonderful opportunities to see the world!

But, what if you are single woman, what if you’re married and your husband, though glad for you to travel, has no interest? What if you are a widow? What you and your mother or daughter are looking for a getaway together?

Opportunities for women to travel with just women are rare and within our Lutheran world, even more rare!

What makes this a trip for women?

We’ve planned a trip that aims to provide a rich experience of things to see and do. There’ll be some history, theology, cultural, shopping, fellowship and good food.

Did we mention shopping and good food?

We’ve built in time for you to head out in small groups and explore – get lost in a museum or city market, pause for a coffee and pastry, or try your hand at making a Christmas ornament and more!

You’ll get to meet and enjoy fellowship and food prepared by Afghan and Persian Lutheran women at St. Lucas Kirche in Leipzig. And of course we’ll visit the famous St. Thomas Kirche, the church where J.S. Bach was Kantor!

You’ll learn about the service of women in the church historically, particularly deaconesses, as we visit Neundettelsau where Rev. Wilhelm Loehe established a deaconess motherhouse more than 170 years ago.

You’ll hear about opportunities for the service of women in the church and meet a German deaconess who will share the history of deaconess service in Germany and how Pastor Loehe influenced deaconess service among Lutherans in America.

You’ll also get to learn about LCMS mission work and what it’s like to be a Lutheran woman serving as a missionary.

Devotions and hymn sings will pepper our days as we travel by bus from site to site.
